Sustainability
Out of respect for the environment. And because we truly care. Our commitment to sustainability and resource conservation.
What we do for the environment
For us, sustainability isn’t a trend, it’s a conviction. We rely on regional supply chains and a conscious use of resources.
Eco-friendly mobility
Free public transport (Guest Mobility Ticket): As our guests, you can use all public transport throughout the entire Salzburg region free of charge—including your journey to and from the resort (from the state border) as well as local day trips.
Free station shuttle: We are happy to pick you up free of charge from Maishofen-Saalbach or Zell am See train station.
EV charging station: For guests arriving by electric car, charging stations are available in our underground car park (£22 / €25 per charge).
Conscious Cuisine
Nose to Tail & waste reduction: We use as much of the animal as possible and actively work to continuously reduce food waste.
Regional partners: We source our ingredients from local producers wherever possible, ensuring short transport routes and peak freshness.
Resources & Comfort
Renewable energy: We use our own solar power along with heat recovery from our ventilation system.
Natural furnishings: Rooms feature untreated natural materials, such as wood, for a healthy indoor climate.
Local body care: Soap and shower gel crafted by a Salzburg-based producer.
Less single-use in the spa: Upcycled spa bags and no single-use slippers.
With good conscience
Breakfast (nearly) Zero Waste
Admittedly: We are not yet 100% successful in having a zero waste breakfast, but we are working on it. You won’t find any individually packaged food on our breakfast buffet. We buy everything in bulk packaging so that there is as little waste as possible. With the intention of reducing as much as possible in the future. And if there is ever any (milk) bread, fruit or other food left over, our kitchen crew whips up delicious smoothies, cakes, muffins and anything else that is left over from the buffet.
Leave your car
The journey by “public transport” is rewarded
If you decide to leave your car behind and travel by public transport, we will collect you free of charge from Maishofen-Saalbach station (11 km), Zell am See (15 km), or Saalfelden (19 km). Not only will you avoid frustrating traffic jams, but you’ll also cut out plenty of emissions. Once you arrive at Haus Jausern, you can use all public transport across the entire Salzburg region for free in summer with the MOBILITY CARD.
In winter, a ski pass gives you free access to the ski bus. Though you won’t really need it: Haus Jausern is just a few metres from the Schönleitenbahn lift, and the Schönleiten run brings you right back to our doorstep. Some might call it: Ski in – Ski out.

E-charging station – of course!
It almost goes without saying, but we would still like to mention: at Haus Jausern, you can charge your electric car.
Cleaning
Exchange room cleaning for room credit
If you don’t need fresh towels every day and don’t find daily cleaning and vacuuming necessary, you’ll save valuable resources and energy. We reward this with a credit when you check out. Simply hang the red card on the room door.

…our wellness bags made from garbage
Not quite. Because where some people see trash, Sissi Vogler from Salzburg sees valuable materials. Refished” produces bags in all shapes and colors from old fish food sacks. Our wellness bags are upcycled unique pieces that do not pollute the environment additionally and are produced under fair working conditions.
Energy, thanks to sun and heat recovery
Hello sunshine
A significant share of the energy in Haus Jausern is provided by the sun and the heat recovery of our ventilation system. In accordance with the motto “Progress instead of perfection”, we are always working to optimize energy consumption in our house.
wood is important
Use of natural materials.
Wherever possible, we have made sure to use natural and environmentally friendly materials. The fabrics – that is, curtains, towels, napkins, etc. – are made of linen or cotton, the floors and furniture are made of solid wood, instead of laminate.

*goodbye slippers
Oneway is no way!
Disposable bath slippers have been a pain in the neck for us for a long time. Now we have taken the plunge and removed them from the room equipment list. We ask you for the catwalk to the spa and through the garden to pack your flip-flops, slippers, doggln, Schlapfa, sandals or just really comfortable footwear! If you should forget this we have of course still a pair of “spare kicks” in the house
